PSV Eindhoven appear to have abandoned any idea of a permanent deal for Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap, despite still believing in him long-term.

That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who say the Dutch club will ‘certainly consider’ another loan deal for the defender.

Bella-Kotchap joined PSV on loan at the end of the summer transfer window after seeing a potential move to Germany fall through.

The hope was that he could play regularly in the Netherlands, as well as featuring in Europe, but that has not proven to be the case with him managing just three appearances in the league and two in the Champions League this season.

That’s because of a should injury picked up midway through October, which has seen him spend 110 days on the treatment table and miss 18 games in total.

He only recently returned to action and so PSV are taking their time to decide what to do about him in future.

At the moment his loan deal from Southampton is set to expire and while PSV still believe he could be replacement for André Ramalho, they’re not betting on that at the minute.

Rather than a permanent deal it seems they would only ‘certainly consider’ signing up to take him on loan from Southampton again and nothing more, meaning the prospect of a permanent deal appears to be off the table for the time being.
