Just under a week ago, we covered a big claim from Corriere dello Sport stating that Bologna were interested in Tottenham’s Alejo Veliz.
The young striker only arrived at Spurs this summer after Ange Postecoglou’s side paid Rosario Central €15m for his services, but he has yet to feature regularly for the Premier League club.
That’s why, from Corriere dello Sport once again, the idea of Bologna taking him to Italy on loan is brought up once again.
The Serie A side are looking for a new striker, and it’s explained the Argentine is of ‘great interest’ to the Italians, who were already keen on him before he moved to Tottenham.
They recall that they had ‘practically signed him’ when Marko Arnautovic looked to be heading to AC Milan in the early months of the summer transfer window, but the sacking of Paolo Maldini changed everything, and forced the Austrian to stay until later on, when he moved to Inter Milan.
This scuppered Bologna’s chance of signing the now Tottenham striker, but the fact he is ‘not playing’ in London (three Premier League appearances for 10 minutes), means there could be an opportunity.
It’s stated that Giovanni Sartori and Marco Di Vaio would be ready to bring him in on a loan ‘with a right’ of redemption, although we highly doubt that’s a formula Spurs would be interested in, considering they clearly believe in the youngster for the future and wouldn’t be willing to potentially let him go permanently so soon after his arrival.
