A lot has happened since Manchester City and the City Group started being linked to Fluminense youngsters Kayky and Metinho.
Following the reports of bids for the duo of teenagers, it was claimed yesterday the Brazilian side was having problems to renew both contracts, which expire in 2022.
Now that seems to be really bothering Fluminense, who have now met the Brazilian FA to suggest that they ask for FIFA a change in the legislation for youngsters, according to Globo Esporte.
Underage players can only sign three-year deals these days, and their idea is to change it to five.
In the cases of Kayky and Metinho, that’s because when they turn 18, they’ll only have one more year of contract with the club.
Besides the attempts for the duo, Fluminense are also losing Marcos Paulo, a 20-year-old who’s heading to Atletico Madrid as a free agent.
Globo Esporte also recalls the offers that Manchester City and the City Group made for the kids of Fluminense’s ‘golden generation’.
The bid for the striker, who’d go straight to Manchester City, was €7m initially, with bonuses of between €5m and €15m. For Metinho, who’d at first go to another club from the group, the offer was €7m.
The website now also points out that Fluminense are having a hard time to give them new contracts, as they’re both represented by the same agents, who turned down the latest offer for the renewals.
