In the past few weeks, following initial reports that Chelsea had made an attempt to sign Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians, it’s been claimed that Barcelona have now joined the race to sign the midfielder.

The Catalan side are still to place a bid for the 17-year-old, but are said to be attentive to the situation and promise to fight the Blues for the transfer.

It turns out that according to a fresh report from Bolavip, Barcelona will use a strange strategy to win that battle against Chelsea.

The story claims that the La Liga giants want to do the same as they did with Athletico Paranaense’s Vitor Roque. That is to agree a deal now, and only take him to Europe once they get the financial guarantees that they can pay for the deal.

The striker is expected to move to Barcelona in January, but in case Barcelona can’t fit the financial fair play then, he’s staying until the summer, and his club can only be thankful for that. That’s something that would convince Corinthians to accept a similar deal, as they could end up keeping Moscardo until January 2025.

Now what should really dictate what will happen are the offers on the table. Chelsea’s latest bid would’ve reached €25m, and it’s unclear whether Barça are ready to spend that much.
