Former Italy and Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has urged Napoli to make a move for Tottenham goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini this summer.

Gollini joined Tottenham on loan from Atalanta in the summer as the club sought out adequate competition for Hugo Lloris.

He’s played a backup role to the Frenchman for much of the campaign, failing to make a single Premier League appearance and instead enjoying a handful of showings in the Europa Conference League and domestic cup competitions.

It remains to be seen, then, if the deal will be turned into a permanent one, with Tottenham having the option to buy the goalkeeper once his loan deal ends.

Whether they will want to is up for debate, with him hardly setting the world alight when he has been given his chance and yet to show any signs he would be an ideal long-term replacement for Lloris.

On the face of it, they’re yet to be convinced and should they not move, Viviano has urged Napoli to pounce.

“If I were Napoli, I would take Gollini, who doesn’t play at Tottenham,” Calcio Napoli 24 report him saying.

“Cragno is also a very good goalkeeper. The best goalkeeper in Serie A is Maignan.”
