Unable to convince Georginio Wijnaldum to sign a new contract at Anfield, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp had to wave goodbye to one of the key elements of his squad, watching him sign for Paris Saint-Germain on a free.

Since then, there was an expectation the Reds would delve into the transfer market to replace the Dutchman, but that signing never arrived, as the Premier League club strengthened their defence instead by spending on Ibrahima Konaté.

Nevertheless, many names were thrown around regarding the free midfield role, among which can be found Aurélien Tchouaméni.

The Monaco midfielder has caught the eye of many teams following some very strong performances with the principality side, also earning him three caps for France under Didier Deschamps in the process.

Tuttosport have an article on the player and Juventus’ interest in him, where both Liverpool and Chelsea are named as competition for the Italian side.

The newspaper claim the Serie A club have ‘moved with great concreteness over the past month to anticipate’ both the teams managed by Klopp and Thomas Tuchel respectively, suggesting they are also in the race for Tchouaméni.

As for the price, it’s suggested Monaco value him at around €35-40m, which seems somewhat low for a club who currently boast the second biggest sale in the history of football.

We’ll have to wait and see about that, but, for the time being, Tuttosport appear convinced that Liverpool are keeping an eye on the midfielder, and could be a threat to Juventus’ plans.
