With Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s impressive start of season at Napoli, the Italian media has now been making big discussions about the great job the Serie A side did when signing him from Dinamo Batumi this summer.

The club only paid €10m to land the winger and even though other sides such as Arsenal were apparently interested in him as well, there was not a fierce competition for the transfer.

With the local press discussing how much Kvaratskhelia is actually worth in the transfer market these days, journalist Alfredo Pedulla now spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport about the method used by Napoli to win the race for him.

The pundit claims there was indeed the interest from Arsenal, and the Serie A side ended up pulling a quite bold move to see off competition from the Gunners for this season’s revelation.

“Let’s start with the €10m out by Napoli when they realised that there was competition from Arsenal on the player: Napoli kidnapped the player telling the agents not to answer any phone calls,” said Pedulla (via Calcio Napoli 24).

“The salary is one million euros plus bonuses, the question about the value has no answer: the €10m could be €40m-50m, there is no point to an evaluation.”

Since joining Napoli in the summer, Kvaratskhelia has seven goals and eight assists in 14 appearances, standing out both in Serie A as in the Champions League.

Needless to say, he shall now cost a lot more in case Arsenal or any other club come for him in the coming transfer windows.
