There’s no denying Manchester United appear to have pulled off one of the coups of January, at least so far, with the acquisition of Bruno Fernandes.
The midfielder has been the spark the club sorely needed on the pitch, but they are still lacking that same special trait off the pitch in the director of football department.

However, there appears to have been a softening in the stance of late, with many claims United are working towards finding the right man, as names such as Antero Henrique and Ralf Rangnick get linked with the vacant job at Old Trafford.
Over the weekend, claims in England suggested Manchester United were looking at the latter of the two, who is also of interest to Milan in Italy.
Ivan Gazidis approaching the Red Bull GmbH head of sport and development has been the cause of behind the scenes struggles at the Serie A side, but it appears the 61-year-old remains the leading candidate to replace Stefano Pioli down the line and take on a role similar to what Ferguson or Arsène Wenger had when in charge of their respective clubs all those years.
Corriere dello Sport mention the English reports in their Monday edition, but add that despite Manchester United seemingly hovering, Milan ‘still appear very far ahead compared to other pretenders’ for his signature.
