Earlier on Monday we covered a report from German newspaper Bild, explaining that a decision on RB Leipzig against Tottenham was due on Monday afternoon.
Bild reported health authorities for the city of Leipzig have been advising the club of the current situation. A spokesman informed the German media that a decision should be taken on Monday, regarding whether the match could actually go ahead.
There was a recommendation in Germany over the weekend that all gatherings with more than one thousand people be cancelled, however, there’s a possibility of playing football matches behind closed doors.
None of that will apply to Tottenham’s Champions League match, Bild now report.
The match is set to go ahead, and do so with both home and away supporters present in the stands.
Matthias Hasberg, a spokesman for Leipzig’s health department, has now explained there will be no restrictions on this event for two reasons.
Firstly, the UK isn’t yet considered a Coronavirus risk area, and secondly the match will take place in the open air, which is thought to reduce any risk.
It’s also pointed out that Champions League tickets are for the named recipient only, meaning it’s possible to track who will attend.
