Nottingham Forest have seen a bid for SC Braga goalkeeper Matheus rejected after reviving their interest from January.
That’s according to journalist Pedro Sepulveda, who says Nottingham Forest have bid €4.5m plus bonuses for the goalkeeper.
Steve Cooper’s side are hunting for a new number one after their two goalkeepers from last season, Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas, returned to parent clubs Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain respectively.
Neither appear to be on their way to the City Ground and so the hunt for a new number one for next season is on.
He’s been with Braga since 2014 and managed 16 clean sheets in 32 games in Liga Portugal this season. Indeed, he has an impressive record of 98 clean sheets in 293 games for the club in total.
That has seemingly convinced Nottingham Forest he’s good enough for the Premier League and they’ve reignited their interest from the January transfer window.
Sepulveda reports that they were keen on the Brazilian that month but didn’t get a deal done and ultimately signed Navas on loan until the end of the season.
The Costa Rica international has now gone, meaning they need a replacement and have bid for Matheus, although it seems they will need to put more money on the table if they are to get him.
