On Thursday morning, we saw reports from the Italian media claiming Manchester United intended to present their first offer to sign Rasmus Højlund from Atalanta.
It was said that the Red Devils wanted to start the negotiations by putting €60m plus bonuses on the table, despite the Serie A side’s request of €70m.
It turns out that as TuttoMercatoWeb now features a story on the race for the player, they claim Atalanta decided to ‘refuse’ a bid for Højlund, and that it may be from Manchester United.
According to the piece, the Italian club rejected a €35m bid. That’s the first attempt they receive in the summer.
Then it’s claimed that it’s ‘probable’ the sender are Manchester United, even though there’s no confirmation about that.
TuttoMercatoWeb recalls that Højlund arrived at Atalanta last summer for €17m, and adds that there’s no ‘definite valuation’ of his price at this time.
It’s said it’s ‘not impossible’ the player could be negotiated for an initial fee worth €50m with bonuses that could bring it to €75-80m. Even though the club’s idea is to keep him, a good offer is expected to change their mind.
