NTV Spor journalist Yusuf Kenan Calik claims Derby County are still interested in signing Fenerbahce attacking midfielder Ferdi Kadioglu, and that the Turkish club are looking to sell the player.

Speaking on NTV Spor’s Futbol Net programme, Calik confirmed Fenerbahce’s intentions to offload the 20 year old as they want to raise funds in order to recruit new players before the end of the transfer window: “As far as I can hear, Fenerbahce are looking to sell Ferdi Kadioglu. Derby County are following the situation of the player, they are interested.

“They are happy with his performances but the reason why they are selling is completely financial. Fenerbahce are in need of money, and Ferdi one of the players who have admirers.”

The Yellow Canaries have only brought in Simon Falette during this transfer window due to issues with the Turkish Football Federation and they now need to generate money from sales. This could result in the Super Lig having to sell Kadioglu to Derby County this month.

Previous reports from the Turkish press said Fenerbahce value Kadioglu in the region €12m, and that Derby County’s initial offer of €5m was rejected.

Phillip Cocu is said to be keen to sign the youngster following their time together at Fener last season.
