Over the January transfer window, there were a number of stories suggesting that West Ham United were keen on Mattéo Guendouzi.

After all, the midfielder has Premier League football under his belt from his time at Arsenal, and with rumours (back then) that Declan Rice could go, it made sense for the Hammers to be looking around.

Marseille have always seen the Frenchman as one of their more sellable assets, and with West Ham lurking, L’Equipe continue to suggest there might be some hope for a transfer.

The newspaper reveal the midfielder has a ‘pronounced taste’ for a return to the Premier League, and over at the offices of the Ligue 1 side, they are ‘monitoring the movements on the other side of the Channel, especially coming from West Ham’.

That’s because David Moyes and the rest of the club are ‘fans of Guendouzi’ and ‘could sign him’ once they sell Declan Rice, with that transfer to Arsenal now seemingly well on its way after a bid worth £105m was made.

Therefore, a new midfielder would be needed at the London Stadium, with the 24-year-old seemingly one of the options to replace the England international.
