Fotospor report Galatasaray are hoping Southampton are relegated to the Championship, as they believe this would give them a better chance of signing Mario Lemina on a permanent basis.

The Gabonese international joined the Super Lig club on a season-long loan deal from the Premier League side in the summer, and has established himself as a key player under Fatih Terim.

According to Fotospor, Terim is a big fan of the Southampton owned midfielder and has told the club’s board to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

However, Fotospor report Galatasaray’s chances of getting Lemina on a permanent deal are slim due to their financial situation, but the Turkish champions may be able to get him on the cheap if the Saints drop down to the English second tier.

Ralph Hassenhüttl’s side are currently one point above the relegation zone after 15 games, and it seems they will be involved in another relegation battle.

The 26 year old has made 11 appearances for Gala in all competitions this season. His contract at St. Mary’s will expire at the end of June 2022.
