Just returned from a loan in France, it seems Chelsea fullback Emerson Palmieri could once again leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
According to reports from Italy, Lazio are interested in signing him. The story comes from Il Messaggero (via Calcio Mercato), who describe the transfer as a ‘dream’ for the Serie A side.
The piece claims that Chelsea have ‘opened up’ to the possibility of letting the player go, and the formula would be a loan with a buying option worth €10m.
With no further details, it still isn’t clear whether Lazio are fine with that price, or if they’ll negotiate for a cheaper deal.
Palmieri, who signed for Chelsea in a €20m deal from AS Roma back in 2018, had been losing space in the squad in the past few years. That’s why he spent last season on loan at Lyon, where he made 34 appearances.
It wouldn’t be strange to see both he and the Blues favouring a farewell this summer, however, with Marcos Alonso still said to be a target for Barcelona, Chelsea may keep Palmieri until the Spaniard’s situation is better defined.
