Manchester City’s İlkay Gündoğan is Barcelona’s ‘object of desire’ for the January transfer window.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who state the La Liga side are looking at the 32-year-old due to his contract situation at the Etihad.
The Manchester City midfielder is currently with the national team at the Qatar World Cup and started for Germany in their 1-1 draw against Spain on Sunday.
It’s claimed the Catalan club’s manager, Xavi Hernández, would have had the opportunity to watch the player live in action against La Roja.
It’s not mentioned whether Gündoğan and/or Manchester City are open to the idea of parting ways midway through the season.
The possibility of Barca signing Gündoğan in January will also depend on them meeting the financial fair play rules set by La Liga.
