After a few weeks of rumours, an official source has finally confirmed that Carlos ‘Gullit’ Peña is on his way to join Pedro Caixinha at Rangers.
Chivas Guadalajara director José Luís Higuera has spoken to Fox Sports in Mexico on Tuesday, and was able to tell them there’s a deal in place.
“There’s an agreement about Gullit Peña with Rangers from Scotland,” José Higuera told Fox Sports (via Plano Informativo).
Fox Sports were the same outlet who broke the news last week, being also the first to give the details of the Ibrox operation afterwards.
They claimed that the move will cost Rangers $4m (£3.12m), and the midfielder should be presented at Ibrox on June 13th. Caixinha is the man behind the switch, transferring his knowledge of Mexican football to the Scottish Premiership.
Peña’s move has been treated as a big deal in Mexico. As covered buy us in the last week, the player received a lot of attention from local newspapers when the transfer was revealed, and the local media hope he can leave his troubled past behind and finally focus on his career.
Sounds like he could be fun at Rangers.
