Lucas Torreira’s exit from Arsenal is edging ever closer, as Fiorentina have ‘minimised’ the distance between their offer for the midfielder and what the Gunners are asking for.
This is what Corriere dello Sport are reporting on Thursday, explaining the Serie A side are ‘counting down the days that separate them’ from the Uruguay international’s arrival.
Torreira is said to have given his ‘approval’ to the move, and the two sides are discussing a deal that would start with ‘an onerous loan of €6-7m and a mandatory redemption clause of €15-16m’.
The hitch comes as to when that clause gets triggered, with Arsenal wanting it done by the end of the season that’s about to start, while Fiorentina are pushing ‘to move the final payment to June 2022’.
Furthermore, there’s still €2-3m difference between the two clubs.
However, these are described as ‘irrelevant obstacles within a very complex deal’, and Torreira ‘barring reversals, will be added’ to Fiorentina’s squad to help Beppe Iachini in his endeavours as manager.
This will be a blow to Torino, who have allegedly made the midfielder their ‘object of desire’ and were in the process of trying to lower Arsenal’s €20m demands for the player.
There’s still time for them, but it looks like Fiorentina might have won this one.
