According to claims in the Italian media, Fiorentina are showing an interest in Middlesbrough midfielder Marten de Roon.

The Dutchman has already this summer been linked with a move to Serie A, with his former club Atalanta.

TMW have reported Fiorentina are keen on the Middlesbrough star, and are looking to move in on the Netherlands international. It’s been revealed the Serie A club have contacted De Roon’s agent with regards to a return to Italy.

However, the stumbling block could be Middlesbrough’s valuation of the player, which has already concerned Atalanta.

Last month we covered reports from Italy that Atalanta were one step away from signing De Roon. The Italian club sold De Roon to Middlesbrough for a fee in the region of €14m last summer, but the Championship side are holding out for €20m for the central midfielder.

Middlesbrough will not want to lose one of their star players, but the 26 year old could want top flight football next season due to the 2018 World Cup.
