Spanish newspaper AS have covered a reported Liverpool interest in Angel Correa, and pretty much ruled out the club’s chances of doing a deal.
AS say the claims originated in England, but they actually came from France and FootMercato. The original French claims said that, according to FootMercato’s information, an offer of more than €28m could cause Atletico Madrid to consider a sale.
AS say that amount, which they’ve forwarded to being an ‘offer’, would be a ‘point of conflict’. Correa’s buyout clause is much higher and with Atletico currently being in a transfer ban, they’re reluctant to let Correa join Liverpool or anyone else.
Things may be different in the January transfer window, but as it stands AS feel there’s little chance of the Argentine ending up at Liverpool, unless Jurgen Klopp persuades the club to go really crazy with a huge offer, which would appear unlikely.
Liverpool are being repeatedly linked with attackers, despite not yet signing the central defensive rock that Klopp more urgently needs.
