Turkish newspaper Sozcu claim Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim is still keen on signing Aston Villa’s Trezeguet and that the Super Lig side have contacted the player’s agent William D’Avila about a potential move.
The Egyptian winger was heavily linked with a move to Turkey towards the end of last season when Villa were battling against relegation, with Turkey’s ‘Big Three’ Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray all said to be interested.
After they maintained their Premier League status, those rumours of a return to Turkey went away. However, Sozcu claim Gala manager Terim remains keen on the Aston Villa player and believes the 25-year-old would be an excellent addition to the squad.
Terim was impressed by Trezeguet’s partnership with Mbaye Diagne when they were together at Kasimpasa, and that’s helping to fuel the interest. Given Diagne will now stay at Cim Bom he believes signing Trezeguet would help the Senegalese striker rediscover his form.
Trezeguet made 41 appearances for Villa last season, scoring 7 goals. His contract will expire at the end of June 2023.
