You’ll be aware by now that Everton are interested in Adrien Rabiot.
That will likely all stem from Carlo Ancelotti, who managed the midfielder during his time at Paris Saint-Germain, and with the player currently in the Italian press’ bad books for staying in the south of France longer than was expected, there’s talk of an exit.
Gazzetta dello Sport look at the situation on Thursday and explain that while Rabiot did play a fair bit last year, Khedira’s return from injury means he will likely be the first sacrificed in Sarri’s midfield.
They point out that the Premier League ‘is calling’, without mentioning names, but considering they published an article on Wednesday claiming both Manchester United and Everton were talking to his mother/agent, we are confident enough to guess who the newspaper are referring to.
Either way, that’s not the important bit.
The important bit is that Juventus know any sale at any price would be a profit on a player who arrived on a free last summer, and it would also allow them to get a ‘heavy wage’ off their bill, allowing space for ‘more functional players’.
Gazzetta point out that’s why the story between Rabiot (referred to as the Duke) and Juventus (as the Madam) could ‘be interrupted after just a year’.
And over in England, ‘Don’ Carlo Ancelotti appears ready to welcome his former pupil with open arms.
