Östersund chairman Daniel Kindberg has told the Swedish media he’s not been in contact with Swansea City over his manager Graham Potter.
Potter has been strongly linked with Swansea City in the past week, following the departure of Carlos Carvalhal.
Speaking to Fotboll Direkt, Kindberg was asked about the interest from Swansea City for Potter: “It’s clear that we have a shortlist if Graham leaves. It would be irresponsible not to know who we want – if it happens. But, no, we have not heard from Swansea. No, nothing.
“How I look at the reporting about Swansea? I understand you want headlines. Graham Potter’s name is exciting. But if it is written about Swansea then there are a lot of other clubs that we really know are interested but one of these is not Swansea. There is simply no information we have in Östersund about Swansea.”
There’s been claims in the UK press that Potter will replace Carvalhal at the Liberty Stadium and a deal is close. The Englishman has worked wonders with OFK and guided them to the knockout stages of the Europa League last season.
Fotbol Direkt also report OFK sponsors have been informed Potter will be on his way to Swansea City, which makes Kindberg’s comments questionable.
The OFK chairman has a history of being outspoken and earlier this year he said West Bromwich Albion weren’t a big enough club for a manager like Potter.
