Union Berlin sporting director Oliver Ruhnert has told the German media Kristian Pedersen’s proposed move to Birmingham City isn’t certain.

The Dane has been linked with a move to Birmingham City in recent days after previous claims Leeds United also wanted to sign him.

Kicker.de have reported on Birmingham City’s pursuit of Pedersen following claims in the German media the player could be heading to the Championship side. The left back is expected to leave Union Berlin this summer, but Ruhnert has said a move to Birmingham City is “not definite”.

However, it only seems a matter of time before Pedersen leaves the German club after it was revealed the player has a buyout clause.

The former Denmark U21 international is entering his final year with Union Berlin meaning Birmingham City could activate his termination fee, said to be €2.5m.

Last month we covered reports from Germany that Leeds United were monitoring the 23 year old and could look to take advantage of his contract situation with Union Berlin.

It was then claimed in Germany that an offer had been made by Leeds United. Since then a potential move to Elland Road has gone quiet with Birmingham City now his likelier destination.
