After their relegation to the League One, Sunderland are looking to offload some of players, including the much wanted Wahbi Khazri.
HaberTurk report Besiktas president Fikret Orman was in London recently and Khazri was on his agenda.
Khazri spent last season on loan at French side Rennes and HaberTurk say the Besiktas president wants to sign him this summer. Orman has reportedly held talks with Sunderland officials over a potential move for the 27-year old.
It’s hoped the good relations between Besiktas and Sunderland will be key after the Turkish side signed Jeremain Lens from the League One club earlier this year.
Khazri has been strongly linked with a move to Turkey in the last two summer transfer windows, but a move never materialised.
The 27-year old enjoyed a very good season with Rennes where he played 24 league games, scoring 9 goals. It has to be considered unlikely that Besiktas will be able to match the transfer fee Sunderland want at this stage, with interest in Khazri set to be widespread.
Maybe if there’s no move later on in the window, the Turkish club will stand a better chance.
