HSV Hamburg are ‘holding talks’ with Leeds United over a deal for youngster Crysencio Summerville, who is keen to leave Elland Road in search of playing time.
That’s according to Hamburger Abendblatt, who say the German club are eyeing a loan deal until the end of the season with an option to buy included.
Summerville was named as a target for HSV yesterday, with it explained the two clubs were in talks over a deal and trying to work things out.
Hamburger Abendblatt back that up today, stating that HSV sports director Michael Mutzel is ‘holding talks’ with the management at Leeds regarding an ‘immediate transfer’ for the Dutchman.
The German side are keen on a loan deal with an option to buy included, but there is one major stumbling block; the player’s wages.
His ‘Premier League salary’ is something that ‘might be difficult’ for HSV to afford in the current Coronavirus climate.
However, the player is ‘desperate’ for more playing time after just 118 minutes in five appearances, and there is a feeling that could play a part in negotiations.
So too could Mutzel’s relationship with Summerville’s agent, Seraino Dalgliesh, a representative of Wasserman who he ‘already knows’ from a transfer deal during his time at Hoffenheim.
The suggestion is that the two know each other and could work out a deal here, particularly as the Leeds man was ‘on the verge’ of a move to the Bundesliga in the summer.
That, coupled with his desire for more game time, could perhaps convince him to take a pay cut to get the move he wants before the end of the transfer window.
Either way, talks are on with Leeds to try and find a solution.
