On Monday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Aston Villa are ready to pay a fee to sign Jesper Lindstrøm this summer. It was also reported the Napoli player first wants to train under new manager Antonio Conte before making a decision on his future.

Il Mattino had also explained that Aston Villa have initiated contact over signing the 24-year-old.

A fresh report from the same outlet claims Unai Emery’s side have taken further steps to try and sign the forward.

According to Il Mattino, Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis is aiming to create a ‘lasting project’ under Conte and the immediate goal is to return to the Champions League.

To achieve desirable results, the coach wants several positions across the pitch improving. The report claims the Naples club will have to raise funds [regardless of selling Victor Osimhen] and they can achieve it by offloading Lindstrøm and Jens Cajuste.

It’s claimed Aston Villa have asked to sign the Denmark international for €30m and the Serie A side are ‘carefully’ evaluating it. The player is waiting for Conte’s approval before opening negotiations for his possible exit.

Last summer, Lindstrøm joined Napoli from Eintracht Frankfurt, and was restricted to less than 600 minutes from 29 matches.
