Late last week, But! Football Club in France provided an update on the Jordan Veretout situation over in France, with Saint-Etienne keen to keep the Aston Villa midfielder beyond this season.
Loaned away from Villa Park to the Ligue 1 club, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a good season with the French side, and his performances have been one of the highlights of the campaign for the passionate fans at the Stage Geoffroy-Guichard.
This is why the club’s board are trying to do everything in their power to keep the Aston Villa midfielder, and talks were said to have started last week.
Well, But! Football Club have an update on a situation, with the website reporting they’ve received news from the French side’s staff that they were optimistic of getting a deal done for Veretout.
This means that either Saint-Etienne have somehow found the money to meet Aston Villa’s asking price, reported at around €10m, or we could have another loan on our hands, which shouldn’t be discarded.
The further into his contract the player is, the cheaper he will be, and with Veretout making it clear he has little interest in playing Championship football, another season away from Villa Park could be ideal for all parties.
We said there’d be more soon, and there was. At the rate this is going, we could have an outcome fairly quickly.
