Swedish side Malmo are interested in signing Pontus Jansson from Brentford, according to reports from the Scandinavian media.

With the player’s contract with the Bees expiring at the end of the season, he’s believed to be a possible target for the club, report Aftonbladet (via Fotbol Skanalen).

It’s said Malmo have ‘good hope’ that they can have Jansson back at the club, as that there’s ‘a lot of evidence’ that this ‘dream signing’ is possible.

A reason for it is the recent statement from Brentford manager Thomas Frank, who, in a press conference, points out there are talks for the contract extension, but didn’t guarantee whether the club will be triggering the option they have on his contract.

The report makes it clear Jansson is still to make a final decision on his future, so it’s a matter of sitting and waiting for the 31-year-old’s choice.

The defender even began the season being a regular starter at Brentford, but suddenly stopped being used. That’s why he only has seven appearances since last summer, and would certainly find more playing time if returning to Malmo.
