Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Chelsea signing André Onana is ‘more than a possibility’ because Inter Milan are planning to sell their goalkeeper in the summer.
The latest report from Calciomercato now explains the Blues interest in the 27-year-old, when discussing Samir Handanović’s situation at the San Siro. The latter’s deal expires in June and he’s already admitted he’s unaware of where he’ll play next season.
Handanović’s future at Inter still needs to be clarified and he’ll have a meeting with them after the Champions League final against Manchester City on June 10th. The Nerazzurri want to keep the door open to retain him, partly because of Chelsea’s interest in Onana.
It’s stated Inter are ‘aware of the fact’ that a ‘very high offer’ from the west London club could arrive in a ‘few weeks’.
If Onana were to leave for Chelsea, Inter don’t want to find themselves in a situation where they have to bring in two new goalkeepers in the summer. Therefore, they want to keep the door open for Handanović to continue at the club.
