Brazilian midfielder Nathan is finally gone from Chelsea.
In an official statement on Wednesday, Atlético Mineiro announced they’re signing the 24-year-old on a four-year deal.
Nathan joined the Brazilian club on loan in 2018, and had his agreement renewed three times. The latest spell had expired last month, and the clubs had been negotiating a permanent transfer since then.
According to Globo Esporte, Atlético are paying €3m for the signing. That’s proof the club did well in the negotiations, because in the loan deal, there was an option to buy the midfielder for €6.5m.
Chelsea signed Nathan in a €4m deal from Athletico Paranaense in 2015, but never used the player. They’ve loaned him out to Vitesse in the Netherlands, Amiens in France, Belenenses un Portugal and Atlético Mineiro in Brazil.
Even though he’d been doing reasonably well at Atlético, there are many fans complaining about the investment made in his permanent signing.
