Girona are already eyeing up a replacement for manager Míchel as he finds himself linked with a potential move to Chelsea.

That’s according to El Chiringuito and journalist Marcos Benito, who say the Spanish side are eyeing Las Palmas manager Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta should their current boss depart.

Míchel has earned himself a growing reputation in Europe this season as he leads Girona at the top of La Liga and towards an unprecedented, Leicester like, title success.

Girona currently sit second in the Spanish top flight and two points behind leaders Real Madrid but six points ahead of third placed Barcelona and eight ahead of Atletico Madrid in fourth.

They have already surpassed their total from last season when they finished tenth on 49 points, a significant improvement to say the least.

Míchel has been credited with their rise, particularly with the side also playing an attractive brand of attacking football and outscoring everyone in La Liga so far.

It means he now finds himself being linked with a big move away, with Chelsea the latest club to be credited with an interest as the pressure increases on Mauricio Pochettino.

He’s not been able to rectify the problems at Chelsea this season and there is now an increasing belief he could be moved on, even if that would put the Blues in financial trouble.

It seems that’s something Girona are aware of and are already making plans to source a replacement should those in charge at Stamford Bridge seriously come calling.
