West Brom striker Salomón Rondón has become a target for Mexican side Monterrey, according to the local media.
Newspaper Reforma (via Futbol Total) claims that after looking at many targets for the centre-forward position, Rayados are now aiming for the 29-year-old.
There are no details on talks for now, and all that is said is that Rondon is protected by a release clause of US$20m, and that amount would have to be paid in case Monterey really want him.
It’s also said the striker has suitors in European football, so it would be hard for the Mexican side to bring him back to Latin America this time.
Playing on loan for Newcastle United last season, Rondon had 12 goals and seven assists in 33 appearances for the Magpies.
The striker has just finished playing the Copa America for Venezuela. He started all four games in the tournament, but couldn’t score any goals, and his country were knocked out by Argentina in the quarter-finals.
Now it’s time for a holiday and then, if nothing is agreed, a return to West Brom.
