Major Turkish TV host and Fenerbahce fan, Acun Ilicali, has spoken about Mesut Ozil during a live Instagram Q&A, as covered by Sporx.
Ilicali, who is also a very good friend of the Arsenal midfielder, said ‘good news could come soon’ about the 31 year old’s potential move to Fenerbahce.
Ilicali said his friend Ali Koc, who’s the president of Fenerbahce, is working hard to find a solution about Ozil and added: “I receive lots of questions about Mesut Ozil. I believe in the future the good things will happen. I’m not in a position to give details but I know our president is also working hard for this.
Ozil has been strongly linked with a move to Fenerbahce in the past 12 months, a club he’s reportedly supported since his childhood.
There were reports last week the former Germany international could be heading to the Istanbul club after it was revealed he refused to take a pay-cut with Arsenal.
He reportedly told friends that he might as well play for Fener if he did agree to take a reduction in his salary.
Ozil’s contract with Arsenal will expire at the end of June 2021.
