IFK Göteborg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg has told the Swedish media he doesn’t know much about reports he will be heading to FC Copenhagen next summer.
The 18 year old has already established himself as IFK’s first choice keeper, and his performances for the club have brought him to the attention of Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Dahlberg was asked about recent claims he would be replacing Robin Olsen at FC Copenhagen: “Yes, what should I say about it? I do not know much. You can ask my agent, but right now I’m playing at IFK Göteborg. I’ll focus on doing a job here and finish the season in a good way. That is where the focus lies.”
Last month we covered reports from Sweden that IFK could be forced to sell Dahlberg in the next window in order to cut costs, with Tottenham ‘highly interested’ in the youngster.
The Swedish club failed in their attempts to get Champions League football, and subsequently they need to offload players.
With the uncertainty over the future of Michel Vorm, Dahlberg could be an option for Tottenham in the new year. Vorm’s contract expires next summer, and Tottenham could possibly look to bring in the player to replace the Dutchman.
However, given these recent claims the Premier League side may have to act fast to land the player.
