According to a claim in the Swedish media, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are ‘highly interested’ in IFK Gothenburg goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg.

The Swedish club could be forced to sell the 18 year old in the new window, and the youngster has also been linked with a move to Everton.

Footboll Direkt report Dahlberg must be sold by IFK in the next window because the Swedish club need to balance the books. The club have been undergoing a number of cost cutting measures in recent months, but their efforts haven’t been quite enough.

Subsequently it’s reported Dahlberg is likely to be sold in the next window, with Arsenal and Tottenham both monitoring the situation. The Sweden U21 international would cost the two Premier League sides around 25m Krona (about £2.3m).

With the uncertainty over the future of Michel Vorm, Dahlberg could be an option for Tottenham in the new year. Vorm’s contract expires next summer, and Tottenham could possibly look to bring in the player to replace the Dutchman.

Arsenal could also be in the hunt for a goalkeeper after Wojciech Szczesny departed the Emirates in the summer. With David Ospina also pushing for a move during the summer, Arsenal may need to bring in a back up to Petr Cech.

However, both Arsenal and Tottenham could face competition from Everton.. Joel Robles has been linked with a move back to Spain in recent months, and Ronald Koeman may need to find a replacement for the Spaniard.

Everton were openly looking to sign a keeper in the last window after they were strongly linked with Eloy Room, but with the Dutchman signing for PSV instead, Dahlberg could be an alternative for Koeman.
