Over the past couple of weeks, Manu Lonjon, a journalist for Eurosport in France, has been reporting quite consistently on the change of ownership at Newcastle United.
Starting back on April 9th, he claimed the club was ‘close to being sold’ with proof of that being the fact members of the scouting department had been ‘laid off until further order’.
Furthermore, the club was reportedly looking for a new manager, with Rafa Benitez one of the first name on the list, as the Spaniard had been ‘offered a role with extensive powers’.
Fast forward to Sunday, and he claimed a ‘big strategic meeting’ between the club’s future owners was set to take place on Tuesday, that would see them ‘refine the project’ and ‘make a list of names for different positions’ at the club.

And now we come to Monday, where Manu Lonjon reports there is now a ‘total agreement for the sale of Newcastle’ and it’s a ‘done deal’.
The announcement is apparently ‘imminent’, with the Yasir Al Rumayyan expected to become the club’s new chairman.
Big claims, but it all appears to be heading in the right direction over in Newcastle.
