Manchester United have ‘set their sights’ on Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say United are targeting a move for the 21-year-old French centre-back.
That, though, is literally all the website is willing to offer on their interest, failing to add anything other than his contract with the German side expires in 2022.
The report is extremely thin on the ground, to say the least, with the crux of the article being that Manchester United are interested.
For example, there’s no mention of an asking price, whether they’ve initiated contact about a deal or anything of that nature. There’s also no mention of whether the player would be interested in the move or if Borussia Dortmund would even sell.
Of course, any suggestion that Manchester United are looking at a defender is not exactly shocking given their defensive woes this season.
It’s widely believed that they need to find a long-term partner for Harry Maguire, with none of the current options impressing consistently.
Zagadou would be a smart option and at 21-years-old fits into the club’s mantra of signing younger players for the future.
This report is thin on the ground, though, so we’ll wait until something a little more substantial turns up before taking it seriously.
