Just yesterday, we covered a piece from the Portuguese media which analysed Wolverhampton Wanderers’ chances of signing Porto midfielder Otávio.

This story started with an English website suggesting the signing for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, and newspaper O Jogo featured an article saying there’s a chance they could get him as a free agent next summer.

Well, it was pretty clear that was just a suggestion, but as often happens, it’s become a real rumour now.

Correio da Manhã writes today that the interest in Otávio is making Porto worried, as it could ‘destabilise’ an important player they have.

The newspaper says Otávio has been linked to Napoli and Wolves, claiming that Nuno Espírito Santo’s side ‘joined the race now’, and pointing out the good relationship between the clubs due to the transfer of Fábio Silva last summer.

However, Otávio would be a different case than Fabio’s, as he’d join the Molineux side at the end of his contract, and that’s why their relationship would be ‘pinched’.

Correio da Manhã says Porto president Pinto da Costa demanded €30m for the player’s transfer in the summer, and that mistake could result in losing him for free now.
