It’s been a trend over the past few years to see players use Manchester United links to land them a new contract.
Some have recently suggested that’s the case with Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka, since he entered his final year of contract.
On July 21st, SportBild reported the Old Trafford club are ‘getting serious’ for the midfielder and are willing to offer him an improved salary to join them.
The midfielder wants an improved deal, and has been tussling with Bayern to get one.
Joshua Kimmich also has a contract expiring in 2022. Bild chief reporter Tobi Altschäffl took to Twitter to explain that Kimmich’s contract situation should be resolved soon as he’s set to sign a new five-year deal.
Altschäffl further added the Bundesliga winners have resumed discussions with Goretzka and talks between the two parties ‘went very well’.
He explains that it’s possible the former Schalke man reaches a ‘quick agreement’ with Bayern over an extension. While all of this is happening, the journalist states Manchester United are ‘still very interested’ in the Germany international.
Interestingly, Bild have a report online, discussing about Kimmich and Goretzka, without a mention of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
Kimmich's clear future (new contract till 2026 will be signed soon) sends a positive signal to his colleagues. The talks with Goretzka were resumed and went very well: a quick agreement with the midfielder is now possible. ManUnited is still very interested in a Goretzka-Deal.
