Christian Eriksen is big news in Spain today, with both Marca and AS having the Tottenham player on their front page.
The AS slant is that Real Madrid would like to sign him in January for €30m, but the player is keen to wait until he’s a free agent so he can get a huge pot of gold.
Marca report Madrid will ‘make an offer’ for Eriksen, determined not to let a good value signing slip away. They want to go about everything by the book, so would only reach an agreement with him from January 1st onward.
The possibility of an offer to Tottenham before then isn’t ruled out, with it being known by Marca that Spurs are keen to sell in January.
Daniel Levy, according to the claims, has enlisted intermediaries he trusts to get an offer for the winter market, not wanting to lose his player for nothing months later.
There are differences between the Marca and AS reports, and it very much feels like someone has spoken to both newspapers and given them the bones of a story. From there, they’ve taken their own slants on the matter.
Interestingly, Marca make it clear that Zinedine Zidane hasn’t wanted Eriksen, and also that the player doesn’t completely fit the profile being looked for, however, it’s felt like too good an opportunity to ignore.
Very much like when Thibaut Courtois was signed from Chelsea.
