At the weekend, we covered reports from the Turkish press that Besiktas have contacted Crystal Palace with regards to loaning Christian Benteke during the January transfer window.

However, TRT Spor’s Besiktas reporter Firat Gunayer has claimed it was Crystal Palace who offered Benteke to Besiktas on a loan deal.

Gunayer says Crystal Palace officials have contacted Besiktas regarding Benteke as the Turkish club are in the market for a striker in the January transfer window. Cenk Tosun and Alvaro Negredo have departed the Super Lig club in the past 12 months.

The Belgian striker has disappointed since joining Crystal Palace from Liverpool and this claim would clearly suggest the Premier League club are looking to offload him.

This offer could be worth considering for Besiktas as they’ve also been linked with other Premier League strikers in recent weeks, including Javier Hernandez, Oumar Niasse and Cenk Tosun.

Benteke has played 70 Premier League games for the Eagles, scoring 18 goals along the way. He’s under contract at Selhurst Park until June 2020.
