Emerson Palmieri has been restricted to only one start in all competitions for Chelsea and is yet to feature for them in the Premier League this season.
The competition for a place in the Blues’ starting XI has only increased following the summer arrival of Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.
At the end of last month, reports coming out of Italy explained Emerson is a ‘priority’ target for Napoli in the winter market.
On November 4th, Calciomercato stated Juventus are ahead of Inter Milan in the race to sign the left-back and the Turin club are in contact with the 26-year-old’s entourage.
Napoli took Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan from the Premier League side in the last market. Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Carlo Laudisa claims the Naples club could use the same formula to sign Emerson in January.
“Emerson Palmieri deal for January? At Chelsea, there is a situation yet to be uncovered. This market is different than the others, it closed on October 5th and will reopen in January,” Laudisa told Kiss Kiss Napoli, as relayed by Area Napoli.
“Right now the Italian-Brazilian fullback aspires to find more space and trust, there is his availability [to leave], but for economic reasons, both Inter and Juventus have not expressed immediate interest.
“A Bakayoko [type deal] between Napoli and Chelsea for Palmieri is a plausible hypothesis. We need to see now what will happen in these two months before January, it is an operation to be monitored, but it can change at any moment.”
Frank Lampard’s man would be looking for a move away from Chelsea in order to get regular playing time in the second half of the season, which is vital for Emerson to represent Italy at next summer’s European championship.
