Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has been ‘approached concretely’ by Paris Saint Germain ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to But! Football Club, who say the German international is one of the players being looked at as part of a rebuild in the French capital.
They explain that everyone is under threat at PSG after their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid, with Mauricio Pochettino and Leonardo likely to go.
That hasn’t stopped the Brazilian transfer chief from ‘getting busy’ in the transfer market, and as part of a summer rebuild of the squad, the Chelsea man has been ‘approached concretely’
as he is their ‘first choice’.
The Blues are under an embargo because of the sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich, which means they cannot currently offer out new contracts, meaning Rudiger will be free to go.
They’re one of several clubs all keen on him, but PSG have an ace up their sleeve as they can make the defender a ‘XXL wage offer’.
The nature of that offer isn’t mentioned, but it’s made clear the French giants would be willing to spend big to get the 29-year-old ahead of the competition.
Ultimately it will all depend on Chelsea’s ability, or lack of it, to get Rudiger signed up to a new contract.
At the moment, they cannot, and PSG have made a firm approach to take advantage of that fact.
