Olivier Giroud is the third-choice striker at Chelsea this season and a lack of game time convinced him to leave the Blues in January.
However, Frank Lampard’s side refused to sanction the France international’s sale as they failed to bring in a replacement.
Inter Milan were one of the clubs heavily linked with the 33-year-old in the winter market.
Giroud’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires after this season and he’ll available on a free transfer in the summer.
Calciomercato claims the frontman keeps a ‘door open’ to joining Antonio Conte’s side and he also sees Inter as an ‘ideal destination’. However, a potential move is far from being closed.
Inter’s management had informed Giroud over Christmas that the proposal they offered for January is not valid for the summer.
The Serie A side have already told the player they appreciate his profile and he is now waiting to ‘understand what to do with his future’.
Giroud’s dream is to still join Inter, but the Nerazzurri will only take a decision on next season’s attack in April.
