Manchester City have secured the signing of Coritiba right-back Yan Couto, according to claims from Brazil on Friday.

Outlet Gazeta do Povo says the clubs have reached agreement on a deal worth €6m for the move. The Brazilian side aren’t keeping a percentage of a future transfer.

However, Coritiba could make a lot more money with the sale, because there’s another €6m which could be triggered in performance bonuses, which would include starts in the Premier League and Champions League.

Yan Couto is still 17, so he still needs to wait to reach majority so he can complete the move, which is happening in June. It’s claimed that Arsenal and Barcelona had made approaches for his signing too.

The teenager is still to make his debut for Coritiba’s first team, but that could happen soon, since he’s in the match-day squad for a game tonight.

Gazeta do Povo points out that Yan Couto is the second biggest sale in Coritiba’s history. The first one is ironically another right-back, Rafinha, who was sold to Schalke 04 and then played for Bayern Munich and Flamengo.
