Another day, another Olivier Giroud to Italy story in the Italian press.
With little else to write about other than transfer stories (and the Covid-19 outbreak), newspapers in the quarantined country are having to be creative, trying to say the same story using different angles.
On Wednesday, we got Lazio’s side of things regarding their pursuit of the Chelsea forward, and Thursday sees Corriere dello Sport give us Inter’s.
Antonio Conte’s side are still interested in the Frenchman after their January attempts to sign him, and ‘discussions remain open’, as it would represent an ‘optimal affair’ for the Serie A side.
However, there is the competition from Lazio to deal with, and it’s explained there could end up being an ‘arm wrestling match’ between Beppe Marotta and Claudio Lotito for the Chelsea striker in the summer.
It will have to wait, though, as ‘now is not the time’, since there are more important things to deal with, like when football will start again and if the season will finish, because until those questions are answered, Giroud is likely to remain at Stamford Bridge.
