If you believe everything that has been written in the Italian media since the end of the January transfer window, then Lazio came very close to signing Olivier Giroud.
The player had allegedly said yes to a move to the Serie A side, but Chelsea blocked any exit for the Frenchman, refusing to sell him to any interested party.
Since then, things turned around for Giroud, and more game time was given to him, but his future still lies away from Stamford Bridge, with Lazio still very much in the running.
Corriere dello Sport on Wednesday make it clear the Italians are still putting ‘everything’ into their chase of the Frenchman, because ‘the dream does not change’.
Much like Lazio, Tottenham and Inter remain on the player, but Giroud has ‘reiterated he will decide at the end of the year’.
‘The idea of staying in London has never wanted’ as he ‘imagines a London future after football’.
However, Lazio are ‘relying on close relationships from the end of January’ and they still plan to ‘re-offer the €3.5m/year three year deal’ they had ready a couple of months ago once the season is over.
