Andreas Christensen’s contract at Chelsea expires in 2022 and there’s been a belief he will sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge. This was before he changed agents, as the Blues defender is now managed by KIN Partners.
The agency’s head of football is Ilhan Gündogan, uncle of Manchester City star İlkay, and they also have Paris Saint-Germain star Lionel Messi’s brother, Rodrigo, as one of their agents. Another agent in the group, Francesco D’Argenio, is based in Barcelona and has done deals with the La Liga side.
Former Denmark U21 coach Albert Capellas is managed by KIN Partners and currently holds a ‘senior position’ at Barca’s academy, according to BT.
It’s said the centre-back came close to signing an extension with the Champions League winners, but ‘things have taken a new turn’ after he changed agents. He ‘can right now choose between the offers that come his way’.
Andreas’ father, Sten Christensen, previously acted as the Chelsea player’s agent. When approached by BT, Christensen Sr had ‘no comment’ on his son’s new representatives or his future.
Meanwhile, Sport explain that ‘everything indicated’ the Denmark international will not commit his future to the Premier League club by signing a four-year contract. It’s claimed the ‘negotiations have slowed down’ due to the interest shown by Barca in signing him on a free transfer next summer.
The new developments could lead to an exit from Stamford Bridge for Thomas Tuchel’s man and various factors would favour Barcelona to sign Christensen. It’ll be interesting to see how this case develops in the coming months.
