On January 3rd, Sport Mediaset explained that Newcastle United are ‘interested’ in Aaron Ramsey and the player is personally negotiating his exit from Juventus.

The Wales international has had more minutes with the national team than with the Turin club this season as he has been restricted to five appearances in all competitions for the latter.

Calciomercato claim the ex-Arsenal man has never hid his desire of wanting to return to the Premier League and the Old Lady ‘granted’ the midfielder two days leave to find a new club in England.

The 31-year-old has until Wednesday to ‘try to conclude an agreement’, but at the moment it ‘appears to be a chimera’. The Magpies get a mention as they are ‘intrigued’ to sign him, but the option to join the Tyneside club ‘does not convince’ the Welshman.

That’s because Eddie Howe’s side face the serious risk of dropping to the Championship next season.

Ramsey earns €7.5m net per year and has a contract until 2023. On top of this, his agent is set to collect a bonus from Massimiliano Allegri’s side for his client’s stay in Turin. This, for now, further slows the player’s exit operation.

All these factors ‘seem to be rowing against Juventus’ and the 48-hour time allotted to Ramsey to sort out his future may not be enough.
